Owen-Putnam State Forest Hike through some of the best hardwood forests in the country. Fish in one of the many ponds. McCormick’s Creek State Park More than 10 miles of hiking trails, including such stops as Wolf Cave and the Falls on McCormick’s Creek; numerous shelters with fireplaces and picnic areas. Complete with tennis courts, an olympic-sized pool, playgrounds and playing fields. Estimated over 750,000 visitors per year.

Green’s Bluff Preserve A large wooded riparian habitat with uplands, ravines, tributary valleys, steep cliffs, karst features, hemlock forest and floodplain forest. The preserve also features a great blue heron rookery as well as an old grist mill, whose remnants can be found in a bend of Raccoon Creek.
