You may have heard the old adage: "Fail to plan; plan to fail!" This has been the theme of the Owen County Economic Development Corporation for the past few years, having initiated a variety of significant planning projects for the community.

 

 Comprehensive Strategic Plan:

With funding provided by the Indiana Department of Transportation, Owen County and the Town of Spencer partnered together to created a 3-in-1 Comprehensive Strategic Plan - one for the county, one for the town and one for the common interests of both. The study had four major areas of focus: economic development, natural resource preservation, infrastructure and land use. With this effort completed and adopted by the official governing bodies, the community now stands ready for the next steps of development.

In 2010, the OCCC/EDC in partnership with the county worked to develop a detailed economic development strategy (based upon the comprehensive plan). Strategic Development Group (SDG) in partnership with Hannum, Wagle & Cline worked as consultants on the project. To view the completed plan, click the link below.
