Owen County Economic Development serves both the Town of Spencer and Owen County with tax abatement applications and processing. New business investment including construction and/or equipment purchases may qualify for tax abatement depending upon the level of investment and the number of jobs created. Small Business Development

Together we can get the job done! There are a number of different organizations partnering together to create a healthy entrepreneurial environment. Owen County HomeTown Competitiveness and West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center work together to provide great workshops and seminars on a variety of topics throughout the year. Likewise, Owen County Hometown Competitiveness is currently working with SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives) to create a branch in Owen County which will provide free counseling for small business owners. Chamber Activities

The Owen County Chamber of Commerce is a multi-faceted organization working to promote its members and grow the community. Membership in the organization is an investment in the potential of the community. It provides owners with a voice in the things that matter most to their businesses.

Owen After Hours events & other meetings provide great ways to make new friends & business connections. Hosts of these events have opportunities to showcase their facilities and services.

Monthly eNews Updates keep the membership informed. Plus, it provides a forum for marketing and media support through an email notification network.

Owen County Chamber of Commerce offers ground breakings, ribbon cutting & grand openings to help our members celebrate the significant events in the life of their business. Additionally, members have numerous marketing opportunities through the various high-quality publications produced by the organization, including (but not limited to) an annual business directory, county map projects, and tourism brochures.
